Rouge d’Hiver is an old cos variety that is listed in Vilmorin’s The Vegetable Garden (1885). A hardy, productive plant that is slow to bolt with elegant, deep- brown-red leaves that fade to green near the heart. A favourite for market and home gardeners alike. Superb flavour and the ability to stand up to whatever the weather throws its way.
Popular for baby leaf, with excellent re-growth properties. Cos lettuce’s are also known as “Romaine Lettuce”.
