The marvelous Mizuna is an oriental wonder! It grows as a large rosette of finely serrated, feathery leaves, similar to rocket leaves. The flavour is fresh but not overpowering and a characteristic peppery-cabbage flavour. They can be used raw in salads or cooked for stir-fries or soups. The young flowering stems can be cooked like broccoli.

Naturally vigorous, Mizuna, is a  most versatile ‘Cut and Come Again’ vegetable. Cut individual leaves, or the whole plant at whatever stage of maturity you desire. Young leaves tend to be more tender and less powerfully flavoured as mature leaves. Baby leaves are produced in as littles as 20 days and are full size in 55 days.

The plant has attractive, deeply cut oak leaf, frilled leaves with purple and green variegation and the leaf petioles are lime green so they look nice in salad mixes. Plants are fast growing, upright in habit, and slow to bolt in summer. This variety is super cold hardy, so be sure to plant at the end of summer for autumn and winter harvests. This seeds of this mustard green also make excellent microgreens.
