What to plant in October

With the lengthening days and temperature increases you should be seeing your plants zoom up the size scale. Everything should seem shiny and bright in the garden. There is definitely something is the air and the outdoors is the best place to be.

October is a huge month with so many varieties to plant, you’ll be struggling to get it all done. Keep your eye out for pest issues, the cabbage moth will be appearing ready to flood your leafy crops with caterpillars and the slugs will be needing a feed.

Weeding is a great job to do at this time of year. Cut down the competition between your edible plants and these space invaders, will improve the available nutrition and tidy up your patch. It may sound tedious, but it’s incredibly rewarding.
